To celebrate the faith that one chooses at Confirmation, we have called our Confirmation Program Myfaith, a take on the internet phenomenon, Myspace.
Confirmation is the third and final sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Church. The candidate celebrates and shares in the Pentecost Spirit which gives them a unique status and responsibility within the Church to “bear witness to the faith to the nations”. While a Catholic person has a right to the sacraments, because of the responsibility that comes with the sacrament of Confirmation it is of utmost importance that proper catechetical training by the candidate is completed so that they enter into the sacrament with a correct knowledge and understanding of the faith so that they might bear witness to that faith more effectively in their own lives. For this reason, Our Lady of Grace has a comprehensive program to assist the candidate in their learning of the faith and ensure that they are prepared to accept the challenge and responsibility that the sacrament of Confirmation calls the candidate to.
The MyFaith Confirmation Program at Our Lady of Grace is a two year sacramental preparation program offered to high school students. The meetings are held once a month on a Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00PM. This year there will be 4 Youth Masses celebrated at 5:00 P.M. after the Confirmation classes throughout the year. Parents and sponsors are encouraged to attend these Masses. In addition to the Myfaith Confirmation Meetings and the Youth Masses, the candidates are required to complete one of our F.I.A.T. service experiences per year, and attend at least three of our Teen Ministry Program Nights (D.T.S., F.L.Y. Alive!, and/or Teen Prayer Nights) throughout the year.*
Each student is required to have a sponsor. The sponsors are to attend the meetings with the students, and be present to the student during this part of their faith journey. This will allow the sponsor to "walk the journey" with the candidate, developing and establishing a faith-based relationship that will hopefully continue throughout their lives.
*Please note that our Teen Social events do not count to fulfill this requirement.
